Indian Pacific part 1- Perth to Adelaide
The final part of our ‘moving holiday’ was to travel on the Iconic Indian Pacific train across Australia from Perth to Sydney, a distance of 4,352 kilometres. We spent three nights on the train. In this gallery we travel from Perth to Adelaide. Heading north through the Perth suburbs we turned east into the vast West Australian wheat belt and then the equally large salt flats before hitting the desert and reaching Kalgoorlie where we had a brief stop to see the 'super pit', which was Australia's largest open cut gold mine until 2016. This is a very big hole in the ground which is 3.5 kilometres long, 1.5 kilometres wide and over 600 metres deep. Then, overnight we continued on to the Nullarbor Plain where we had breakfast on the station at Rawlinna. Then we had a stop at Cook to refuel the loco and stretch our legs before continuing on overnight to Adelaide
