15- Malta
The Republic of Malta was our 17th stop on this cruise to London. We docked in the Grand Harbour alongside the old town of Valletta. This was one of our favourite stops, hence an extra large number of photos.
The climate was great, everywhere was very clean, and the old town and the coastal villages were very picturesque. Possibly too many tourists, but who are we to complain!
This was a true photography day for me (Jenny did a different tour). I did the Blue Grotto and Marsaxlokk fishing village tour. After stopping at the Blue Grotto lookout, we went to the village of Wied iż-Żurrieq and took a ride in a very small boat to see the Grotto. Once back on dry land, I wandered around the small village. We the drove to the very colourful fishing village and port of Marsaxlokk. I have never seen so many boats, mostly small ones, in one place before. After an hour there, to wander and experience a little of the Maltese fishing village lifestyle, we travelled back to our ship at Valletta for a very late lunch.
After lunch we both walked around Valletta, then met up with my nephew and his wife, who live in Malta, before sailing off to Italy.
