22-Lisbon, Portugal
We arrived in Lisbon just in time to see the sunrise. We took a city tour, which took us to some of the monuments and old buildings of the city and then across the huge “25th of April” suspension bridge, to view the very tall. Monument to Christ the King, which sits high on the south bank of the Tagus River, opposite the main area of the city of Lisbon.
Lisbon is a very clean and picturesque city with lots of old buildings and lots of monuments, as can be seen from the photos.
As we departed from the cruise terminal, and turned to head back out of the Tagus River into the North Atlantic Ocean, we had a very good view of the 17 km long Vasco Da Gama Bridge. We then sailed under the enormous,
suspension bridge, and had a great view of the city from the river.
There was some trepidation as we left Lisbon, because the next morning we were to sail across the notoriously rough Bay of Biscay. We need not have been concerned because it did not live up to its reputation.
Lisbon was our last stop before London.
