A double ballancing act

After settling into our spot at the caravan park we saw the red sky and headed for the beach.

Just in time to get the last of the sunset.

Blue/green sea & Cabbage Tree Island (John Gould Nature Reserve) greet us as we emerge from the bush track onto Great Mermaid Beach, on our walk to Yacaaba Head.

We arrive at the start of the climb

The start of the 1.5km (each way) climb up the Mt Yacaaba Walking track in the Myall Lakes National Park.

We needed a rest even before we started the climb, we had already walked about 2km.

Fortunately, we did not have to clamber over these rocks which cover the beach around the Head.

We made the first lookout about 2/3 of the way to the summit. Looking north west you can see the Myall River beyond the spit & Hawks Head with Barrington Tops in the distance.
