Colac, Lakes & Volcanos
Following our visit to Triplet Falls we headed north to Colac which is situated at the southern end of Lake Colac. There we strolled around the Botanical gardens (see separate Gallery) before driving to the Meredith Park free camping grounds at the northern end of Lake Colac. After finding a convenient spot overlooking the lake we settled for a meal and watched the sun setting across the lake. In the morning we woke with the sun and headed off to explore the area around Red Rock and Lake Corangamite, an area littered with the aftermath of many volcanos. Along the way we explored the small towns of Beeac, Alvie, and Warrion. We then returned to Colac and exp;ored the town before checking in at the Lake Colac Caravan Park, again on the edge of Lake Colac. We walked to the local Bird Sanctuary and once again watched the sun set from the lakes edge. The next day we headed east to get back home.
