St Helens & Bay of Fires
From Coles Bay we headed north and after stopping at Bicheno, we spent two nights at St Helens so that we could explore the Bay of Fires and its coloured, rocky coastline. The name comes form Captain Tobias Furneaux, who saw Aboriginal fires lighting up the coast line as he sailed past in 1773, but many today think it is because of the orange lichen-covered granite boulders.
