Tower Hill to Port Fairy
Tower Hill is just west of Warrnambool on the road to Port Fairy. It is an extinct Volcano, that is now a lake and reserve with some amazing lava walls. Port Fairy, is 30 minutes further west. It is a small coastal port, now serving tourist rather than ships and is well known for its annual Folk Festival, There are many old buildings dating back to the 1800s. Griffith Island is just to the south of the town. It is home to a large colony of Short Tailed Shearwaters (for half the year) and also the Griffith Island Lighthouse.
