Snowdon Mountain Railway
Snowdon is the highest mountain in Wales, The summit is 1,085 metres above sea level. It is the highest point in the British Isles, outside Scotland. It is the only mountain in the UK with a railway to within metres of the summit. The ABT rack railway opened in 1896 and carries passengers 7.6 km (4ml) from Llanberis to Snowdon Summit station. Strong wind can be a major problem and we did not know if we would get to the top because the wind was strong. Fortunately, we made it, but only after a long wait at Rocky Valley Station for permission to proceed. When we reached the top it was COLD, WET, WINDY and COVERED IN CLOUD. But we were glad we made it!
